Document legalization for China in Moscow

In 2023 , China signed a law acceding to the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 . The law enters into force on 7 November 2023 , and therefore documents certified by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs after 6 November will no longer be accepted by the Consulate. Documents are now accepted with an “Apostille” stamp.

If you need to submit documents in the PRC for the purpose of getting married in that country, enrolling in a school or university, or officially taking up employment, the receiving authority will most likely require you to provide legalized documents. Since the PRC is not among the countries that have signed the Hague Convention, a document bearing only an Apostille stamp has no legal force in that country. The document must undergo full legalization, which involves two or three stages depending on the type of document.
